Football Urns for Ashes in the UK: A Buyer's Guide
A football urn is a way to keep a supporter close to the club they loved. There are a few different kinds on the UK market, and they suit different families. This guide explains the options, the size you need, and what to expect on price and delivery.
The main types of football urn
| Type | What it is | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Real match ball | A genuine football in the club's colours, reinforced with a sealed inner chamber | Families who want it to look and feel like the real thing |
| Steel or metal | A metal ball shape, often with a printed or engraved badge | Outdoor use and gardens |
| Wooden | Carved or panelled wooden ball | A traditional, understated look |
| Ceramic | Glazed ceramic ball shape | Display indoors |
We make the first kind. Each urn starts as a genuine football, which we hand-clean and reinforce, then fill with our patented resin process to create a permanent, sealed chamber for the ashes. It looks exactly like the ball they'd have cheered for, because it is one.
What size do I need?
The cremated remains of an adult usually take up between 2.5 and 3.5 litres. Our football urns hold about 3.8 litres, enough for the full remains of most adults. If you plan to share ashes between family members, a smaller keepsake urn can hold a portion.
Personalising it
- Engraving: add their name, dates and a short message on the display stand (up to four lines).
- Display case: a clear case protects the ball and keeps it dust-free.
- Their own ball: if they had a signed or much-loved ball, send it to us and we'll use that instead.
Clubs available
We currently make urns for Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Celtic, Rangers, plus England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales rugby balls.
